Subway Sketches

These are sketches I did during the Subway Sketch group one Sunday afternoon in Toronto. Along with Mike, Joanna, Malcolm and Danielle. Great experience.

More random sketches from days gone by...

More spontaneous idea regurgitation on paper. Were done so long ago but I can still remember exactly what was going on when I drew these. Memory is a funny thing.

Waste of Energy

Final colour version

Black and White

Sketch
This is another personal piece of mine I worked on over the weekend and finished Tuesday. I was just trying to work out a style for myself. Though trial and error and with what works and doesn't. I feel the sketch is a lot stronger then the final but I had fun doing both none the less.

Two Model Pose (Life drawing)

Close up of portrait
We had another two model life drawing pose today. I worked on a black surface again this week. It was a lot of fun. I used acrylics in the beginning and then finished it off with pastel, conte and charcoal during the second half. 3 hour pose (but more like 2 hour minus all the breaks and what not)

Paintings from last Semester

I was sorting though past files on my computer today and stumbled upon all these paintings I did last semester in Ted's class. I enjoyed that run a lot. Especially just painting the model in different lightning. Acrylic is fun but I want to try oils someday soon. Just to see what the fuss is  all about.

Random Sketches from last summer

I was looking though some old sketch books today and found/forgot about these sketches. Enjoy.

Circle

Final piece done in Illustrator
Colour concept done in Photoshop.
Black and white study.
Initial drawing.
I was sketching this week and just messing around with my process. Sometimes it feels really good to just draw for the sake of drawing. No reason, no purpose. Just draw whatever comes to mind. And for me it always boils down to faces and shapes. Above is my process for the piece I call "Circle."

Homage to "The Kiss"

Since it was a snow day today, why not spend it working on anything but school related work. I was rummaging through old sketch books and found some inspiration for this piece. I was also looking at Klimt paintings, "The Kiss" in particular.

Test piece for colour studie

This was another idea for the recipe for disaster assignment. The kids were suppose to be made of junk food but that never happened.

Recipe for Non-productivity

This piece is for an assignment based on a recipe of our choosing. This is basically me trying to come up with some sort of divine inspiration when it comes to creating art. Sadly half the time is either spent sleeping, tv, video games or the dreaded facebook. Top is the rough bottom is the final.

Robo Kong

I was inspired by Peter Jackson's King Kong and who doesn't like a damsel in distress. Watercolour on hot press watercolour paper.
