Self-Portraits (Over-sized)

I chose to do a series of three paintings for my self-portrait. Each was about 24" by 30" acrylic on Masonite. My concept was to explore pure colour. I wanted to use colour as the main expression of each piece. I had a lot of fun putting colour where I knew it didn't belong. I also wanted to create layers by working back into each painting with sand paper and overlapping images. These are the results.

Godzilla vs. Giant Robot

This is my final computer assignment for the year. A throw back to classic Godzilla films.

These are some of the process drawings:

Distant Love

I was watching a lot of documentaries at the time I drew out this pencil drawing. I also looked at a lot of primitive/tribal imagery for the characters attire. I also just wanted to flesh out some sort of method and way of working out images. I always found drawing the human body a good starting point for image making.

Habitat for Humanity Poster

    Refined rough pencil drawing

   Black and white tonal study

  Colour final: mixed media

 Digital touch ups using photoshop

Here's my final poster for the Habitat for Humanity campaign. My concept was the idea of "a roof over one's head." And the image was made accordingly. I had a lot of fun painting this one too.
